Madera Canyon-area education trail is opening

The Coronado National Forest will unveil an educational trail at Madera Canyon on Saturday.

The Bud Gode Interpretive Nature Trail, which stretches three miles along the Madera Canyon road, was built with a $300,000 grant from the Bud Gode family and $50,000 from the Arizona Department of Tourism Rural Grant Program, according to the Friends of Madera Canyon, a nonprofit group that helped get the project built.

Madera Highlands Park Ready for Play

The 16-acre Community Park at Madera Highlands is nearly complete. The playgrounds, barbeque areas, tennis and basketball courts and dog park are ready. There is plenty of green under huge pecan shade trees, providing cool space for outdoor play. Construction of the community swimming pool on the east side of the park is expected to begin in the next few months.
